About This Course

Investing in Mental Health First Aiders is only the first step. This course helps managers, leaders and organisations create the right environment for Mental Health First Aiders to succeed. Participants will gain the knowledge and practical strategies needed to support those carrying out the role, embed positive wellbeing practices and build a workplace culture where mental health is valued alongside physical health.

By the end of the course, organisations will be better equipped to maximise the impact of their Mental Health First Aiders while ensuring they themselves receive the support they need.

This course is ideal for employers, directors, managers, HR professionals and team leaders who have appointed, or are planning to appoint, Mental Health First Aiders within their organisation.

It is particularly valuable for organisations committed to improving employee wellbeing, reducing stigma and developing a proactive approach to workplace mental health. The course also helps employers understand their responsibilities in supporting Mental Health First Aiders and embedding mental wellbeing into everyday working practices.

This course is delivered through interactive workshops, facilitated discussions, workplace case studies and realistic scenarios that reflect the challenges faced by organisations supporting employee wellbeing.

Participants explore practical examples, share experiences and work through strategies that can be implemented immediately within their own workplace. Discussions encourage collaboration between managers and leaders, helping them develop practical action plans that support both Mental Health First Aiders and the wider workforce.

Training is tailored to your organisation wherever possible, ensuring the learning is relevant, practical and easy to apply.

Participants are assessed dynamically throughout the course through workplace scenarios, group discussions, practical activities and instructor observation.

Where appropriate, learners will also complete short knowledge checks to reinforce key concepts and encourage reflection on how the learning can be applied within their own organisation.

Assessment is carried out by a qualified Skills Shop instructor who holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications together with relevant occupational competence and experience in workplace wellbeing and mental health. This continuous assessment approach ensures participants can demonstrate understanding while actively contributing throughout the course.

Successful participants will receive a Skills Shop Supporting Mental Health First Aiders in the Workplace certificate.
