Stay alert, stay informed - safeguard those in need
Our Safeguarding Awareness course provides participants with the knowledge and confidence to recognise the signs of abuse, neglect and exploitation, understand their safeguarding responsibilities and respond appropriately to concerns. The course promotes a culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, helping organisations protect children, young people and adults at risk.
By increasing awareness and encouraging early intervention, participants leave better prepared to identify concerns, record information appropriately and report safeguarding issues with confidence.
This course is ideal for employers, managers and team leaders looking to raise safeguarding awareness across their organisation.
It is suitable for employees and volunteers who may come into contact with children, young people or adults at risk, including those working in education, childcare, healthcare, social care, community organisations, charities, hospitality, sport and leisure.
No previous safeguarding knowledge is required, making this an excellent introduction for organisations wishing to strengthen their safeguarding culture.
Our Safeguarding Awareness course is delivered through interactive presentations, facilitated discussions and realistic workplace scenarios that reflect situations participants may encounter in their own roles.
Learners explore how safeguarding concerns can present themselves, discuss appropriate responses and work through practical examples to build confidence in recognising and reporting concerns. Group activities encourage discussion and reflection, helping participants understand the importance of acting promptly while following organisational safeguarding procedures.
Training is designed to be engaging, practical and relevant to your workplace, ensuring participants can apply their learning immediately.
Participants are assessed dynamically throughout the course through workplace scenarios, group discussions, practical activities and instructor observation.
Where appropriate, learners will also complete short quizzes and knowledge checks to reinforce understanding and confirm learning outcomes.
Assessment is carried out by a qualified Skills Shop instructor who holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications together with relevant occupational competence and safeguarding experience. This continuous assessment approach allows participants to demonstrate their understanding naturally throughout the course while receiving guidance and feedback.
Successful participants will receive a Skills Shop Safeguarding Awareness certificate. We recommend refresher training every three years, or sooner where legislation, guidance or organisational safeguarding procedures change.
Skills Shop certificates are issued in-house rather than through an external awarding organisation. This enables us to focus our investment on experienced instructors, practical learning and high-quality training resources rather than annual accreditation fees.
Employers have a duty to safeguard the welfare of those in their care and should ensure staff receive appropriate safeguarding training relevant to their role. Choosing a competent training provider helps ensure employees understand both their legal responsibilities and the practical steps they should take if concerns arise.
