Mental Health First Aid Awareness in Bury

This course provides participants with an introductory understanding of mental health, reducing stigma, and improving their ability to identify and support individuals who may be experiencing mental health issues.

About This Course

Our Mental Health Awareness course helps participants develop a better understanding of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. It provides the knowledge and confidence to recognise the early signs that someone may be struggling, challenge common misconceptions and promote positive conversations around mental health.

By increasing awareness and reducing stigma, organisations can create a more supportive workplace where employees feel valued, understood and encouraged to seek help when they need it.

This course is ideal for employers, managers and team leaders looking to raise awareness of mental health across their organisation and promote a positive workplace culture.

It is suitable for all employees, regardless of role or experience, and is an excellent introduction for organisations beginning their wellbeing journey. The course is particularly valuable for businesses wanting to improve employee engagement, reduce stigma and encourage open conversations about mental health.

No previous knowledge or experience is required.

Our Mental Health Awareness course is delivered through interactive presentations, workplace discussions, practical activities and realistic scenarios that encourage participation throughout.

Participants explore common workplace situations, discuss how mental health can affect individuals differently and learn simple ways to support colleagues while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

The course creates a safe and inclusive learning environment where participants are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences where they feel comfortable and reflect on how positive workplace behaviours can support wellbeing.

Participants are assessed continuously throughout the course through group discussions, workplace scenarios, practical activities and instructor observation.

Where appropriate, learners may also complete short quizzes and knowledge checks to reinforce understanding and encourage discussion.

Assessment is carried out by a qualified Skills Shop instructor who holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications together with relevant occupational competence and experience in workplace mental health. This ongoing approach allows participants to demonstrate their understanding naturally throughout the course.

Successful participants will receive a Skills Shop Mental Health Awareness certificate. We recommend refresher training every three years to help keep knowledge current and maintain confidence in supporting positive mental wellbeing within the workplace.

Skills Shop certificates are issued in-house rather than through an external awarding organisation. This allows us to focus our investment on experienced instructors, engaging learning resources and practical workplace training instead of annual accreditation fees.

Although Mental Health Awareness training is not a legal requirement, employers have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees, including their mental wellbeing. Choosing a competent training provider with experienced instructors and robust quality assurance processes helps ensure your team receives practical, relevant and effective training.
