Our Safeguarding Training course provides participants with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to recognise, respond to and report safeguarding concerns appropriately. Going beyond basic awareness, the course explores safeguarding responsibilities in greater depth, helping organisations develop a proactive safeguarding culture where the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk remains a priority.
Through practical discussion and realistic workplace examples, participants develop the confidence to make informed decisions, respond appropriately to concerns and understand their role in protecting those who may be vulnerable.
This course is ideal for employers, managers and team leaders responsible for ensuring their organisation meets its safeguarding responsibilities.
It is suitable for employees and volunteers who work directly with children, young people or adults at risk, including those in education, childcare, healthcare, social care, sport, leisure, community organisations and the voluntary sector.
The course is particularly valuable for organisations requiring a more in-depth understanding of safeguarding than a basic awareness programme.
Our Safeguarding Training course is delivered through instructor-led presentations, facilitated discussions, realistic case studies and workplace scenarios designed to reflect the challenges participants may encounter in their own roles.
Learners work through practical examples, explore safeguarding legislation and guidance, and discuss how to respond confidently when concerns arise. Interactive activities encourage participants to apply their knowledge, develop professional judgement and understand the importance of accurate recording, reporting and information sharing.
Training is tailored wherever possible to reflect your organisation, helping ensure the learning is relevant, engaging and immediately applicable.
Participants are assessed dynamically throughout the course through practical activities, workplace scenarios, group discussion and instructor observation.
Where appropriate, learners will also complete short quizzes and knowledge checks to reinforce understanding and confirm learning outcomes.
Assessment is carried out by a qualified Skills Shop instructor who holds recognised teaching and assessing qualifications together with relevant occupational competence and safeguarding experience. This continuous assessment approach enables participants to demonstrate both their understanding and practical decision-making throughout the course.
Successful participants will receive a Skills Shop Safeguarding Training certificate. We recommend refresher training every three years, or sooner where legislation, national guidance or organisational safeguarding procedures change.
Skills Shop certificates are issued in-house rather than through an external awarding organisation. This allows us to invest in experienced instructors, practical learning experiences and high-quality training resources rather than annual accreditation fees.
Organisations have a legal and moral responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. Providing appropriate safeguarding training helps ensure employees understand their responsibilities, recognise concerns at an early stage and respond in line with current legislation, organisational policies and best practice.
