I’m thrilled to share with you that my journey in positive behavioural support training is backed by a unique blend of experience and expertise. As a 5th Dan Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, I’ve dedicated years to mastering not only the physical discipline required in martial arts but also the mental resilience and conflict resolution skills that come with it. This foundation has been instrumental in my role as the leader of an extended provision centre, where for 8 years, I worked closely with disenchanted secondary school children.

My experience has taught me the profound impact of understanding, patience, and skillful conflict resolution in transforming challenging behaviors. By implementing strategies I learned from a specialised course with the National Federation of Personal Safety, I focused on resolving conflicts, teaching breakaway, and physical intervention (safer handling) skills, all while emphasising the importance of maintaining positive relationships. This approach was pivotal in our center, where, over eight years, we only had to use restraint training twice for safety reasons.

This record speaks volumes about the effectiveness of our methods and the positive environment we nurtured, which encouraged growth, understanding, and respect. My journey has equipped me with the insights and skills necessary to empower others in managing and supporting positive behavior, fostering environments where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
